Wheatley 2nd XV Vs Harwell 2nd XV (1430)

Wheatley 2nds welcome 5th placed Harwell to the Holton Playing fields. Wheatley are currently on a poor run of form having lost 3 games in a row, albeit all to teams who played at a higher level last year. Harwell are a team that Wheatley know well, having played each other last year, with one win a piece (in addition to a walkover win to Harwell) and so Saturday should bring two evenly matched teams onto the field. Harwell have currently only been involved in 2 games this season, both of which were incredibly tight affairs, losing 17-12 to Abingdon and a remarkable 53-54 win against Harlequins!

Wheatley have to go into the game with the sad news that Veteran Captain, Club stalwart and inspirational motivator Peter Ramsdale will not be available for the game and with his lieutenant Jake Durbin also unavailable, Captaincy will rest on the broad shoulders of Quins Exile, Ben Ramsdale, who makes his return to the Wheatley scene and ensures that the Ramsdale bloodline will be represented on the field.

With Durbin out, Maximillian RĂ¼ester will start at hooker alongside Anthony Cortez and Joe Hyde, whilst Matt Gibb moves from flanker to second row to replace Ramsdale Snr. Toby Pocock will also move to the second row to replace the unavailable Mike Lasko. Joe Hobdell and Matt Bianchini fill the holes left in the back row, whilst Ramsdale Jnr will start at number 8.

A new look back line brings Andy Caldicott in at number 9 whilst Andy Tippet makes a rare foray into the number 10 shirt. Liam Meredith starts his last game for Wheatley at 12 after his dancing toes crossed the whitewash last time out and James Bowley makes a familiar start at 13. Jordan Mayling retains his place on the wing with Keith Parsler returning on the other wing. Side stepping Celt Jonny Wilson makes his return at fullback amidst injury concerns to Josh Hilsdon, who will also make his return to the squad. Gav Stanton is another who will start on the bench to give his broken body a rest, whilst Phil Glenn will provide cover for the 9 and 10 positions. Matt Richards returns to the side to provide back row cover.
