Wheatley won a tough game in even tougher conditions at home to Didcot.
The game had to be moved to the second team pitch due to the state of the first team pitch but this did not put a hold on Wheatley's unbeaten home record.
Going in to the game with a side depleted from the Christmas holidays and unfitness, Wheatley started the sharper of the two sides, and save for a couple of scares, spent most of the first period camped in the Didcot half. However, the conditions put paid to any serious passing and consequently knock on after knock on, from both sides, resulted in a myriad of scrums.
Wheatley did have a strong running number 8 in Nathan Brooks, and after some good work, he was able to power over the line. James Butler missed the conversion.
In a brief foray in to the Wheatley half, Didcot managed to narrow the gap with a penalty, before Wheatley hit back again and a rare glimpse of quick ball helped James Butler over, which he then converted.
The second half was much like the first, but Didcot came out the more fired up of the two sides. The rain nullified any attractive rugby, apart from the odd glimmer, but an interception try from Didcot set Wheatley's nerves on edge for the final 20 minutes. Despite pushing, Wheatley couldn't convert territory in to points.
With the final play of the game. Butler managed to convert a penalty to end the game.
