Wheatley couldn't find a way through at Hungerford this week but managed to come away with a loosing bonus point.
From the outset Wheatley struggled to find fluidity and were unable to get the ball to stick with and too often saw the final ball knock on and turn over possession.
uncharacteristically Wheatley's defence was not as shape as we have seen it in recent weeks allowing Hungerford's big runners to break the gainline. Wheatley lost ground early on after conceding 2 penalties at the breakdown with Hungerford pulling out a 6 point lead. Wheatley did hit back before the break with a try from Jack Smith and Aaron Laman converted.
Hungerford hit back in the second half after a dubious penalty for a high tackle a quick tap saw the home team cross the try line in for an converted try 13-7
Wheatley managed to creep back into the game with 2 penalty of their own with Aaron Laman adding the 6 points bringing the game back level 13-13.
Lack of concentration from the re-start saw the Hungerford 8 pick up the ball off the base of a ruck and exploit a hole in the defensive line and go in unopposed to score what was ultimately the try. with the conversion added 20-13
