Wheatley fail to capitalise on possession

Wheatley loose out to Tadley 29-19,

Wheatley failed to make their mark on the fixture with poor decision making gifting Tadley possession and points with poor defending.
starting brightly Wheatley were producing fine ball from a dominate set piece taking several against the head in the scrum and Josh Murcot and Spencer Bailey causing the visitors a hard time in the line out.

Periods of phase play saw the purple men march into the Tadley 22 but to often possession was given away, more patience would have yielded points or at worst applied more pressure to the opposing scrum.

On 13 minutes Wheatley did break through with a switch of play Jack Smith bulldozed his way over to collect a try with Aaron Laman putting his boot to good use and expertly slotting the conversion from out wide.

The however reality soon hit home with Tadley hitting back inside of 2 minutes with an unconverted try.

Tadley were reduced to 14 on the quarter hour mark with the high tackle count rising it was 10 that was seemingly the magic number as the official had enough and produced the yellow card this was soon countered with Spencer Bailey harshly yellow carded for non release in the tackle.

After being reduced to 14 Wheatley produced their best rugby of the afternoon emulating from Jordan Hook gathering the high ball and going on one of his trademark runs weaving hither and tither eventually being tackled and able to off load to the supporting Luke Aguis to go over for a try, Arron Laman once again adding the conversion.

With Tadley back to full strength rather than tightening things up Wheatley opted to try and play the kicking game with ball being gathered up and to the visitors credit exploiting the extra man and running in a try either side of the half time whistle.

The game was marred with 2 red cards after a melee broke out on the half way line, fullback Jordan Hook was on the receiving end of some frustration from the visitors 9 and unfairly dismissed several other Tadley players felt it necessary to intervene, the official seemingly missing several other players impersonations of Tyson Fury and seeing something that didn't happen.

Wheatley hit back with a fine execution of the line out and driving maul James Butler the benefactor, moor opportunity did fall to Wheatley but poor execution filter saw the ball knock on or go to ground with the visitors quicker to react.

With the scoreline in the balance at 19-17 again Wheatley struggling to find continuity it was Tadley that grew in confidence adding 2 more unconverted tries with the game finishing 29-19

Moore time on the training pitch needed as thats where wining is born!
