A below par performance from Wheatley gifted Didcot a 38-10 victory.
Wheatley didn't start well and were far from the usual hard to beat robust cohesive unit, having said that Wheatley were awarded a penalty at the breakdown with Aaron Laman slotting a 30 yard penalty to open the scoring. 0-3
For the next 25 minutes it was one way traffic with a low tackle count Didcot were able to employ an effective off loading game and with some song running from their 8 in particular Wheatley struggled to contain the home teams advances.
On the half hour Wheatley produces their afternoons highlight with a below strength line out Wheatley actually functioned well considering the average height was about "5"9 taking 2 against the head and retaining all but 1, it was from a slick line out move Wheatley unleashed the backs giving Sanda Mpanza the ball in space and after some neat footwork Sander was able to go under the posts with Aaron adding the conversion.
That was about it from Wheatley with much of the remaining 50 minutes dominated by Didcot Although in the latter stages the Wheatley scrum did being to dominate the bigger pack with Ezra Rees seemingly coming of age.
Well played Didcot deserved winners on the day, Wheatley hopefully have got their "Bad day" out of the way early doors this season and can put it behind them.
Final Score 38-10
