3 teams showed exciting promise and great game play at Witney.

Great news from the Tag Festival held at Witney RFC on Sunday 28 April, with 2 of our 4 teams picking up trophies.

The format was that the top two in each group went on to contest the Cup, Plate or Bowl and the last two went into new groups that then contested for places in various Spoon finals.

The U7A's were in a very tough group and although they played well, they went into the Spoon competition where they won one and lost one and did not qualify for a final. Great play, well done.

The U7C's, all under 6's, improved throughout the day and played some great rugby only losing narrowly to Gosford's A side in the final match - they'll all be back next year for another crack at it. Team showed great promise, well done.

The U7B's won one and lost two in their group before coming from behind to beat Bicester A (Wheatley 9 Bicester A 8) and then winning again to reach the B Spoon Final.

In a dramatic and very high standard final played in front of the clubhouse against Didcot A, the scores were locked at 8-8 and then 10-10 after extra time and the outcome had to be settled by the toss of a coin. Didcot called wrong so Wheatley were the winners.

A fantastic effort by our players beating a couple of A sides and playing some brilliant rugby on the way.

Congratulations to Mark and John and all of the U7 players.

Thanks for all of your support this season (must invest in trophy cabinet for pride of place in the clubhouse).
