Shaky start but a stomping finish!

Great news from the Tag Festival which was held at Witney RFC on Sunday 28 April with 2 of our 4 teams picking up trophies, one being the Under 8's team.

The format was that the top two in each group went on to contest the Cup, Plate or Bowl and the last two went into new groups that then contested for places in various Spoon finals.

The Under 8's entered in the A competition against some of the biggest clubs in the county, they played some great team rugby and drew two (Didcot 3 Wheatley 3 / Henley 5 Wheatley 5) and lost one (Bicester 4 Wheatley 3) in their pool group before entering a round-robin Spoon cup trophy.

Improving as the day went on, the U8's won two more games (Grove 6 Wheatley 10 / Bicester 5 Wheatley 10) and drew one (Abingdon 5 Wheatley 5) to finish joint top of the group with Abingdon.

However, Wheatley were declared as overall winners on countback having scored a total of 25 tries to Abingdon A's 22 tries.

A fantastic set of results for our U8 players who enjoyed picking up their trophy in front of the Witney clubhouse.

Congratulations to Malcolm and Tim and all of the U8 players.

Thanks for all of your support this season (must invest in trophy cabinet to have pride of place in the clubhouse).
