Wheatley 2nd XV vs Buckingham 3rd XV (1500)

This weekend sees Wheatley open it’s doors to Buckingham’s 3rd Team as they look to get back on track after their injury depleted side lost to Bicester a fortnight ago. Buckingham are another new side to face Wheatley, however not completely unfamiliar as Hooker Jake Durbin’s boss is a Buckingham Rugby stalwart and will start on Saturday. Buckingham are yet to play a competitive game this year after failing to field a side on the opening weekend and then being gifted a walkover by Quins in week 2, where instead they were the 60-40 victors in a friendly against Banbury 3rds.
As usual, Wheatley will field a vastly different side to the one that faced Bicester. Joe Hyde replaces Chris Eggleton in the front row, joining Jake Durbin and Anthony Cortez, Whilst captain Pete Ramsdale makes his return at lock alongside Mike Lasko. Matt Gibb moves to blindside flanker to replace Luke Durbin and Debutant Matt Richards replaces Phillip Lasko at openside. Liam Meredith returns to the seconds to fill the number 8 hole left by Russ Neal.
Behind the pack, Rob George replaces the injured Gav Stanton at Scrum half with George Turner outside him at 10 (or possibly the other way round come the day!) and Dan Blomfield returns to the side to replace the crocked James Bowley at inside centre. Joining Blomfield in the centres is another debutant, Rory Hitchens who makes his first Union start since crossing codes, whilst Tigger Chadbone offers another option to start in either centre role. Jordan Mayling returns on the wing, replacing the protesting Claude Barbe-Brown and youngster Sam McInerney makes his first senior team appearance on the other wing in the place of the injured Olly Tyson. The full back position is as yet unfilled and so will go to anyone who puts their hand up!
A strong bench containing Matt Bianchini, Michael Martini and yet another debutant, centre James Douglas-Osborne, means that Wheatley 2nds can get injured without having to play with 14.
Forwards: A Cortez, J Durbin, J Hyde, M Gibb, P Ramsdale (Captain), M Lasko, M Richards, L Meredith, M Bianchini,
Backs: G Turner, R George, D Blomfield, M Martini, J Hilsdon, J Mayling, S McInerney, J Douglas-Osborne, R Hitchens, M Chadbone
