This Saturday the purple army welcome Bletchley to the Holton playing fields for the last game of 2017.
Bletchley are brand new opponents to Wheatley, having been relegated at the end of last season. It’s been a patch start for Bletchley this year, lying 9th in the league but only 7 points behind Wheatley, who lie in 6th place. They are also in a good vain of form coming of the back of a win against Milton Keynes and a 1 point loss to Bletchley last time out, presenting a dangerous task to the men in purple.
Despite a couple of absentees, Wheatley still name a strong squad. Leading the side out as always will be Alex Acklam, alongside Pete Mitchell and a hopefully sober Alex Gabbidon in the front row. With Nick Banton still nowhere to be seen, Jack Atkinson has completed his transition to second row alongside a hopefully sober Matthew Gibb (#Benched). The first change of the day comes in the back row as Dan Bland celebrates Christmas a week early, James Butler starts at 6 alongside Caillin Taylor at 7 and James Neal at 8.
The second change is out in the backs with Toby Butler taking over 9 duties from the unavailable Jack Taylor in what will be a huge blow for the 96% of players who have him in their Fantasy team. Aaron Laman again starts at 10, looking to help Joe Hobdell celebrate his birthday with a meat or two alongside Sanda Mpanza at outside centre. With Dan Rule still suffering a shoulder injury, Jordan Hook moves to the wing alongside Joe Taylor and, finally, Iain Downer at 15.
A reduced bench this week contains front row and general pack replacement Simon Chadbone alongside utility back/Forward Jack Smith.
Both sides will want to finish the year with a win, and so Wheatley will need to be at their best to come away with the W
