Wheatley cap a solid season with cracking night at the annual dinner dance and presentation evening.

110 players, members and supporters capped off a solid season with the annual WRUFC Dinner Dance and Presentation evening at the club house on Saturday night.

Awarding the players for their efforts offer the last 10 months is not any easy thing to do with the combined efforts of all involved throughout the season lead to successful league and cup campaigns with the first team reaching 4th in the league the highest in the clubs history and reaching another County Shield Final, the vets also competed well in their competition qualifying for the Cup and reaching the semifinal being knocked out by eventual winners Henley Hawks.

Kicking off the awards Jack Taylor picked up the Golden Boot with 14 league and cup tries, Pete Mitchel was rewarded for his tireless efforts throughout the season and his unrivalled commitment with the Top Trainer award.

Most promising player was awarded to Moose whom had demonstrated in the few games he has played that he carries a great potential at second row and has a real presence around the field. Jordan Hook was awarded most improved player after holding down the fullback position all season and continually looking for pointers to improve his game.

Kier Williams received 2nd team Coaches player having been Mr consistent throughout the season. Pete Evans scooped the 2nd Team Players Player well deserved with Pete leading the charge week in week out and playing in several positions with in the pack.

Pete Evans gained a second award of the evening collecting the club man of the year award for all his efforts around the club week in week out.

Phil Glenn was this years Vets player of the year herculean efforts in the semi final kept Henley honest and his recruitment skills were also invaluable.

Sanda Mpanza picked up the coaches player for the first team again having contributed hugely to the team success and always on hand to offer pearls of wisdom to those around him.

Joe Hobdell collected the final award of the evening with the prestigious Players Player Award having shown huge determination and team spirit Joe gave a his all throughout the season not just playing but throughout all club activities. well don Joe great effort.
